$400k closer to its fundraising goal for low-income older adults
The Redwoods, A Community of Seniors in Mill Valley, has announced that its October fundraising event has brought the organization $400,000 closer towards reaching a $5 million goal for a multi-year fundraising campaign that will enhance access to care for low-income older adults.
The Endowment and Legacy Giving Campaign, launched in late 2024, is a five-year, $5 million effort to double The Redwoods’ existing endowment. A key focus will be on offering financial assistance to residents in the new Bettye Ferguson Center for Memory Care, as well as Assisted Living areas.
“We are seeking to double our current endowment so that, in addition to our current resident financial assistance program, we can offer enhanced financial support to residents in memory care and assisted living, where there is currently no readily accessible government subsidy,” explained Kyle Ruth-Islas, CEO.
“This Campaign embodies the heart of our mission to support low-income residents who call The Redwoods home,” said Caroline Joachim, member of The Redwoods Board of Directors. “It is about safeguarding their future.’
According to Janet Hines, President of the Board, the Campaign has raised $1 million to date. “We have met our first-year goal and are right on track to raise another $4 million in four years.”
The event, “An Evening of Celebrating our Community,” was held on The Redwoods campus on October 23, drawing over 170 supporters, community leaders, and elected officials.
Chaired by Betsey Cutler, Claire McAuliffe and Vera Meislin, participants enjoyed outdoor dining, a live auction, and presentations highlighting the Memory Care Center. Major sponsors included the Harbor Point Charitable Foundation and Unidine.
