The Sausalito Police Department and Southern Marin Fire District are teaming up, while facing off in a brand-new holiday tradition: the First Sausalito/Southern Marin Holiday Bell-Ringing Challenge. The festive fundraiser will take place on Saturday, December 20, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Sausalito Ferry Landing on Tracy Way.

Firefighters and police officers will ring the bell throughout the event at dueling Salvation Army kettles, competing to raise the most donations. All funds raised will directly support the Salvation Army San Rafael Corps, which provides essential services, including food assistance, emergency support, and family programs to residents throughout Marin County.

To amplify the spirit of friendly competition, Sausalito and Southern Marin will also be informally competing with the Novato Police Department and the Novato Fire Protection District, who will be ringing for the Salvation Army at the same time in their community. The cross-county comparison adds a fun, regional layer of camaraderie and charitable rivalry.
